Action “Tempest” in southern Podlasie
Southern Podlasie was an important element of the fighting on both sides of the eastern front. The Red Army opened the way to Warsaw and then to Berlin. An important point of the struggle was the participation of the Home Army troops. In total, about 10,000 soldiers were mobilized for the Action “Tempest” in the Podlasie regions of the Home Army. Particularly heavy fights were fought for Siedlce, from 24 to 31 July 1944.
